Today's the day i finally left for Paris! My flight left Phoenix at 12:20pm and I will be landing in Paris at 9:50am on January 6th. Right now i'm doing some professional people watching in the Toronto Airport. My favorites are the man 3 seats away, beyond drunk, just talking to himself, and the family that has not stopped arguing since they sat down right behind me. I'm just sitting at the airport bar taking advantage of the Canadian drinking age, hoping I will be able to sleep the entire flight from Toronto to Paris since my flight from Phx the lady in front of my put her seat as far back as possible and completely ruined my life.
So the past 3 weeks or so i've been around a lot of friends and family with the holidays and i've noticed there are a few questions/remarks i've been asked/told more than anything else and i thought i'd just write a few down:
1. Haven't you seen Taken?
2. So do you like.. even speak french?
3. OMG Parisians hate Americans are you going to tell people you're from Canada or something?
3. Watch out for pickpockets
4. wow, haven't you seen Taken?
5. Wow I went to France once
6. Have you gotten your passport yet? (UM DUH!)
7. Do you know anything about nannying? (answer to this is absolutely nothing)
8. OmG haven't you seen taken?
9. You're dad better learn something from Liam Neeson
10. and last, but not least. Don't get married/pregnant
But hey, did i mention how many times i've been asked if i've seen Taken in the past 3 weeks?
So the plan when i set foot in Paris is Aline's (the mother of the children i'll be a nanny for) father, whom lives in Paris, will pick me up with his youngest daughters husband, whom speaks English very well, and from there we will go to their flat in Paris to have lunch and start getting acquainted. Then we will make the 4.5 hour drive out to Lorient where i will officially start my nannying. The past few days i've been super, super, super, super nervous about my trip, but now that i've started i'm just excited.
Ready to board my plane to Paris.. Bon Voyage!
