Monday Jan 12th:
To be honest I have no clue what i did on this day and i don't have any pictures from it on my phone so im going to guess it was not very exciting.
so moving on
Tuesday:
I spent most of this day with Aline and the children just going to school and then the doctors and then music lessons and "little wolfs" in the middle of all this. So most of the daytime I was in the car with the kids.
(Lubin on the left and Ewen on the right)
Then that night I went to an Irish Pub with Dimitri. He is a student here at the University in Lorient and one of his studies is English, and lucky for him I was willing to help him with some homework. Im not sure a pub is a good place to do homework, but from i've seen everyone under the age of 23 pretty much spend their nights (like every night) in a bar. (So obviously i fit in well)
Wednesday:
On Wednesday's the older children do not have school so Maialen was home all day, so in typical little girl style I spent the morning being her personal Barbie doll- getting my hair done and she even got to choose my outfit for the day.
And for lunch that day we went to a fast food place called "Quick" and i haven't felt as at home (or American) as I did while we were there. Now I would have much rather have eaten at Sonic (why can't there be sonic here) because the French have not perfected fast food yet. This burger was NASTY and not in the good way, like it was pretty gross. But the French Fries were very good and for desserts they had donuts which were also good, so it wasn't all bad.
Thursday:
In the afternoon on Thursday we took a short trip down to the shore again to see the castle and because it was very windy and the white foam from the sea will fly out onto the road and the hills nearby and Aline says it is very beautiful to see.
Friday:
Friday was another day filled with just taking the kids from place to place, but later in the afternoon two of the teachers from Lubin's preschool came over to have a Gallet with us. A Gallet is like a thin, buttery pie that is empty inside except somwhere in the Gallet is a hidden item. Its usually a small little plastic toy, but it can be almost anything. So the Gallet is cut up and the youngest child decides who get which piece and then everyone eats their piece, and the person who has the item inside their slice is the King or Queen for the day. Since i've been here we have had two Gallets and Maialen has been queen both times. But she is also the one deciding who gets which piece so I think she is rigging the system.
Saturday:
During the early afternoon on Saturday we went to a small town called Pont-Aven. This town is exactly what you would picture France countryside to look like. They are very popular for their art galleries and famous for their Biscuits (the cracker/british kind, not the smother in gravy kind). This town was wonderful and we've already planned on going back in the early spring when more of the galleries are open.
Then later that night I went to a Futbol game with Dimitri and some of his friends. Only a few of his friends spoke english, but luckily we all speak soccer so it was no problem. We saw the Lorient home team play, and they won 1-0. It was not a very good game, but we were in the "fan" section so they were screaming, singing, and cheering constantly. And of course afterwards we went to a bar where everyone from the game goes after a win.
Sunday:
I spent most of my day recovering from my long night out with the French and of course watching the newest episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
